License server is a software which allows to add license keys to software products and manage the license keys. The license server is crucial in monetizing software
applications and restricting access to software and avoiding software piracy.
The licsm license server is a self hosted license server which can be hosted in VPS or dedicated server having a dedicated IP address.

Floating License :
licsm supports floating license server which allows an organization to allocate floating licenses to its employees. These floating license are node locked and
can be allocated to a hardware id / mac address. The floating license can be removed and assigned to another node as per requirement. While purchase of license
the vendor has to supply the number of floating licenses the organization can have at a time. The customer cannot use floating licenses more than this number.
The floating licenses are currently managed through API which can be converted to GUI by vendor.
Node locked / Hardware ID locked license :
The licsm License server supports Node locked / hardware id locked license key activation. License key locked on one hardware id / mac address cannot be run
on another computer / node. This helps avoiding the vendor from software misuse.
Online activation :
The licsm (License Server) supports online activation of license keys. This activation is node locked. In online activation the vendor must write its software
in a way that allows registration / online activation of software using the libraries provided with licsm (License Server).
Self hosted license server :
The licsm (License Server) is self hosted license server which needs to be hosted on a VPS / Dedicated server. The hosting should use adequate VPS / dedicated
server capable of handling the license server requirements of vendor. This self hosted license server allows for online activation and all features of licsm (License Server).
Secure Channel :
All communications between licsm, vendor PC and Customer PC using licsm libraries are encrypted using AES 128. The key used to encrypt AES 128 is set by the vendor
in licsm (License Server) self hosted server and the libraries. These keys should be kept secret and not provided to anyone for secrecy and secure communication.
In licsm (License Server) this key is configured by running /opt/LicenseServer/LicenseConfiguration.out and in licsm libraries it is set before call to any API.
